There haven’t been any new cases of
the Plague Doctor virus. The total body count is five so far. There
is one person still hanging on, so the clinic is still under
quarantine. I’m feeling hopeful. This one looks like she might
pull through.

We’re like flies
I’m not even sure what to do anymore.
I can’t work fast enough to even make my patients comfortable. Most
of them are delusional. It’s almost taking up all of my time
keeping them from wandering around. I’ve lost one already, and
there are several that, as much as it kills me to say it, probably
won’t last through the night.
I’m in over my head right now, and
it’s killing me. All I can do is make it a little easier for them.

THE CLINIC IS NOW QUARANTINED
That virus advanced far faster than I
ever would or could have expected. Patients have gone from fevers,
minor headaches, and some nausea to cold sweats, vomiting, migraines,
and dizziness. I’ve never seen something like this before. I’m
not sure exactly how contagious it is, but it is communicable. It is
also getting worse by the hour. Unless you are in the area and happen
to be sick, don’t come to the clinic. If you are injured, or if you
are sick and not in the area, I suggest you go find a hospital.
I’m just treating the symptoms right
now, because I have no idea what this is, but I’ll see what I can
do.

Wash your hands
There seems to be some kind of virus
floating about around here. It could be the lingering effects of the
Plague Doctor. I don’t really have the resources to care for a
bunch of contagious people, unfortunately. Please exercise some
caution. Use all the usual preventive measures (I know you heard all
about them during the H1N1 outbreak). I don’t know how effective
they’ll be until I’m sure this isn’t some eldritch virus, but
it doesn’t hurt to be safe anyway.

Lives lost
I had a couple of kids come in early this morning.
They were brought in by some runners that have been patients before.
They were badly injured. Several fractures that were at least a
couple days old. I don’t know how they survived as long as they did
without medical treatment. One had a bad infection.
I gave them antibiotics, set their
fractures, and patched them up as best I could. The other got an
infection over the next hours. Both had high fevers at that point. I worked
as fast as I could on both of them, but I am only one man and they
needed much more than I could give. Both died.
I didn’t get their names. If you know
of two missing boys, both Caucasian, one with black hair and blue
eyes, the other with blond hair and brown eyes, I can get you a
picture to help identify them.

Resupplied
I threw out all of the medicine and
supplies that I had while the Plague Doctor was here. I don’t know
how far his influence extends, and I didn’t want to risk anything.
However, as a result I am currently a
bit in short supply of some of the pricier things. It will take me a
while to build up the stock I once had, but I think I can make do.
I’ve got all the basics and a little more, so I should be able to
cover just about anything that comes in.

He's Gone
There’s been no sign of the Plague
Doctor for a few days now. I don’t know why he suddenly left.
Perhaps he was interested in those last few patients I mentioned. If
so, I pray for their safety.
I’m going to keep the clinic closed
for a few more days just to make sure, but I should be reopening
soon. Spread the word.
